Welcome to our 2013 wrap up, featuring some of our favourite graffiti projects and adventures…

January

We started off 2013 with a bang, painting some cool interior wall murals for a bunch of clients.

The Goat is an exclusive venue in Fulham and we pulled out all the stops with our vintage painting that looked like an oil painting!

Hand Painted Graffiti Wall

Down the road in Chelsea we painted a wicked mural for Lomax gym’s Secret Spin Club in our signature graphic style. Our only brief was ‘Make it dynamic’, we certainly did that, transforming a blank boring space into an area that the club is proud of.

London Skyline Graffiti

We decorated this East London office with an iconic graffiti London skyline. This was one of our favourite wall murals of the year!

 February

Graffiti-Valentines-Wall-Mural

This was a great month, we started off with this romantic Valentines wall that became one of the most famous pieces of graffiti in the area and was featured in the coffee table book ‘Happy Graffiti’. Bold lettering is the way forward…

We embarked on one of our biggest ever projects this month, partnering with the Tate Modern and the sponsors of the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition to deliver a series of workshops with young people from London.

galaxy-graffiti

We painted a galaxy themed wall mural in this video production company’s office. It was out of this world…..

March

Level 39 was a huge project for us. Overlooking the city of London from the tallest building in Canary Wharf, over several days and nights, we painted a selection of different styled graffiti murals across the walls, transforming the space.

Adidas are always a fun client to work for, and this was no exception. We decorated the interiors of Adidas Originals stores in London and Liverpool as well as painting live graffiti art at an exclusive event.

Lovedough_Graffiti

Painting in front of a crowd can be nerve racking and on this occasion things were amplified as it was our first time trying out a new product – indoor spray paint. It’s a tricky medium to master but over two hours painting at LoveDough at Proud nightclub in Camden we managed to come up with a winner.

Hand-Painted-Mural

What’s on Dubai is the most popular listings mag in Dubai, we painted the front cover to their special art edition!

April

What a month! We got the scaffold out for this job at the Hackney star, painting a design we worked on with the venue’s owner. We also decorated the inside with some realistic graffiti portraits.

Sony-Graffiti-Live-Art-Entertainment

Sony asked us to paint live at an event, this wall mural references historic Sony creations of the past and was painted in front of guests in just 90 mins.

SongKick had a great year, with their innovative app going from strength to strength. When it came time to blow off steam the crew came to us for a graffiti Teambuilding workshop and we had a lot of fun teaching this creative team how to do graffiti.

No rest for the wicked as we were shipped off to Norway to paint this epic piece on a bus. We ate local delicacy, reindeer stew and painted some princesses and villains…

phoenix-graffiti-mural

One of our favourite projects was this graffiti advertising wall mural for the band Phoenix. We replicated their album artwork across four giant panels in East London.

May

This month saw the culmination of our project with the Tate Modern and the sponsors of the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition as we unveiled a huge piece of public art that our mentors helped a group of young people that were not in education create. We are so proud of this project and everyone involved.

Toni-Jaa-Gym-Mural

We paint a lot of gym murals, this one was a particular favourite. We worked on the design with the gym owner and nailed the sense of movement that he was looking to capture.

Graffiti-Live-Art

We were honoured to be invited to the premiere of ‘Gimme The Loot’, a love story that revolves around two graffiti writers. We painted this piece live as guests were arriving, using indoor spraypaint.

June

We had a lot of fun with this project at the Jam Tree Bar in Clapham, painting two big murals. One was in a realistic graffiti style depicting the Beatles in their Lonely Hearts Club Band uniforms. The other was a graphic style wall mural depicting the yellow submarine characters.

Gallery

Probably our biggest milestone of 2013 was the opening of The Graffiti Life Gallery. We’re 26 Cheshire Street, just off of Brick Lane. Come by, say hi and look at some amazing art!

james2

Sadly James Gandolfini passed away in June 2013. We paid tribute to this legend the best way we know how…

July

Ironman

We painted a lot of interior wall murals in 2013, this ‘Ironman’ in a kid’s bedroom was a favourite…

This project was all about code breaking, we put an interesting spin on the concept by painting graffiti wall murals with different messages, sending those clever enough to crack the code on an exciting journey with a prize at the end!

Fresh-prince-graffiti

Who doesn’t love the Fresh Prince? This wall mural near our gallery on Cheshire Street has become a local landmark.

We kicked off the month with a fun project for Nike, painting an old abandoned building to fit the theme of their exclusive event.

Graffiti-Life-Bart-Simpson

This huge Bart Simpson wall mural was created… Because we felt like it! We grew up with this iconic image on our lunchboxes and school bags, so decided to pay homage.

MarilynM

We painted this realistic graffiti wall mural of Marilyn Monroe in August and its one of our favourite portraits of the year.

September

ad-tech 2

Every year we paint something special for the ad-tech event, this years efforts certainly deserve a mention.

We handled the launch party of the Crane Building with some interactive live art – guests were invited to add to our wall mural with some fun stencils, the result was a lot of fun.

Princes-Trust-1

The Princes Trust are one of our favourite organisations to work for, and we got a lot from this project. We donated our time over four days to help a group of young people with the design and painting of a huge wall mural on one of our favourite walls.

Alexander McQueen

It doesn’t get much bigger than painting a wall mural for Alexander McQueen’s flagship London store. We wove the signature McQueen tartan into our realistic tiger painting.

October

AntDec

We got to meet Ant and Dec on this project in October, painting a wall mural for ITV, big fun!

We dusted off our passports and headed to Barcelona for some live graffiti art at the ‘VM World Convention’.

Context-Shot---Wildwood-Peterborough

One of our biggest graffiti wall murals was this piece at a restaurant in Peterborough, our reference material was old sepia tone photograph.

November

NikeSneaker 2

This was another fun job for Nike, this time we were creating live art at the launch of their new ‘Sneakerboots’. We covered an entire replica city of London with graffiti, super fun!

We ended the year with some really cool projects. United Colors of Benetton asked us to help with these colourful backdrops to highlight their new collection..

Ian Hislop 1

We painted this piece for a history documentary ‘Ian Hislop’s Olden Days’ which will air on BBC2 later in 2014, so keep your eyes peeled!

We got together with Swatch and their VIP members club and hosted one of our famous graffiti team-building workshops. We had a lot of fun on this one, with a truly creative, inspiring and completely diverse group.
