With a clear vision of promoting public art, but no established blueprint to follow, the group went on to create an industry from street art and graffiti, creating opportunities for artists that previously had not existed. From humble beginnings, they have gone on to work with some of the world’s biggest brands, travelled globally and firmly established themselves as the leading collective of professional graffiti artists working today.
Members of the team had been creating artwork for years before Graffiti Life began, often in the shadows and without public accolades or acceptance. Before ‘Street-Art’ was a recognised movement and before Banksy appeared in coffee table books the artists were honing their skills and learning their craft, creating work for an audience comprised, for the most part, of their peers. Graffiti Life was born of the team’s desire to create a platform for what was, at the time, an un-tapped and underground art form. As with so many successful businesses timing played a key role in their success, as their efforts became focused at the same time that public interest in urban art was beginning to gain real momentum.
