Staff parties can provide some much needed “R&R” with a chance for team bonding, to smooth over any issues, as well as setting a focus for the year ahead. For most, a staff party is a time to have fun, relax with colleagues and ensuring that you don’t have one too many and end up being “that guy”. However, Metro recently cordially invited us to their annual agency party to provide some entertainment in their urban hip-hop themed room.
The party itself was incredible – it was hosted in Victoria House, a grade two listed building redeveloped for the twenty first century. The House itself is a stunning neoclassical landmark in one of London’s most historical areas, WC1. It spanned the whole of the basement of the House and was filled with edgy and exciting areas such as ‘The Club’, ‘Food Market’, ‘Theatre’, ‘Hip-Hop Karaoke’ and ‘Urban Garden’.
The room we were located out was seriously pimped out with hip-hop accessories including boom boxes, caps, sunglasses and gold chains which the guests could wear. We, Graffiti Life, then added the finishing touches by providing a number of different murals and live designs on the night.
The first mural which was featured was a large stylised cityscape. This was painted before the party on to a purpose made, free standing wall and installed in the urban Hip-Hop room. The event organisers then dressed the mural with chain link fencing and hung gold chains from it for people to accessories themselves with. The DJ booth was also graffitied pre-event and we then added branding to the live art wall to give it a little context.
During the event two graffiti artists sketched away to provide background entertainment to the hip-hop karaoke based around a London and the Hip-Hop theme. The artists filled in the area over the course of the evening and created a fantastic backdrop for the club night!
