Graffiti Fashion Trends of 2014

Graffiti is increasingly finding its way onto the catwalk, with designers such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Prada spotted at the recent Paris fashion week with bold graffiti tags and street art prints. This season we’re seeing key designers move away from the graphic and geometric prints of Autumn / Winter 2013 in exchange for playful, vibrant and flamboyant Graffiti and Street-Art themed fabrics…

Kurt-Geiger-lowres

Kurt Geiger were some of the first designers to pave the way for graffiti trends with their ‘Pretty in Punk’ season. Kurt Geiger’s ‘Pretty in Punk’ designs embodied the splatty, grungy and edgy look affiliated with the punk era; whilst keeping their designs beautiful and feminine with soft lines and touches of pastel pinks. Our graffiti artists were tasked with creating a ‘Pretty in Punk’ graffiti window display for Kurt Geiger’s flagship London store. Our graffiti artists used spray-paint to create a rough and ready look, painting drippy paint splats alongside a realistic portrait; applying a touch of pink for that femme fatale look!

We were also commissioned by Adidas to design and paint three graffiti styled canvases to be used throughout one of their PR campaigns. This campaign was aimed at inspiring talented young artists to create artwork for display in store. One of the best parts of our job is getting the chance to inspire… So we enjoyed painting these three canvases of completely different styles!

Since then, we’ve been working alongside Alexander McQueen to design and paint their Bond Street flagship store in central London. The idea was to use a tiger as the centrepiece, tying in with the use of tiger print on several garments in the latest McQueen collection but also to subtly incorporate the iconic tartan that has been a mainstay with the designer for years.

As graffiti themed designs are becoming increasingly popular, we’re noticing the high street stores following trend too! We’ve painted for the likes of Top Shop, United Colours of Benneton and Primark, and appeared on nationwide TV in Rihanna’s Styled to Rock and Little Mix’s Fashion show!
